When it comes to enduring legacies, a June auction result is a perfect example, whilst also capturing the privilege and joy of playing an integral role in our clients' lives over a long time. The garden-level riverfront apartment is in Noosa Quays, just along from Ricky's Restaurant. I first sold it off the plan in 1990 for $426,000, and we found new owners in 1996, again in 2016, and once more in 2020.

Twelve paddles on the river may sound like a canoeing event, but these were Offermann Real Estate auction paddles, held by a dozen hopeful buyers, each arriving with circa five or six million dollars ready to spend. Marketing agent Jesse Stowers was at the helm, completing last-minute registrations as the grassy forecourt filled with buyers and spectators, among them the couple who had purchased in 1996 for $540,000 and sold twenty years later for $2.3m.

The excitement was palpable when the auctioneer called for an opening bid and $4m came straight back. Fifteen minutes of spirited bidding later, the hammer fell at $7.15m, a record by many measures, the culmination of a huge sales campaign, and a wonderful new life for the winners.
